Problem by –: We had a new boiler installed today. The guy informed us that it will scent for a week or so…?
due to the fact they set a remedy in it to pull the outdated oil or whichever out of the pipes. It does odor and we also have a fog in the boiler area which they explained was regular also. We opened the basement windows to air it out.
My concern is…is any of this damaging to us, our daughter or our cat? I have a sore throat from it all but I am really sensitive to smells and these kinds of…Specialist answers truly appreciated…

He’s right. new furnaces have an oil movie coating on the combustion chamber for rust prevention during storage and delivery durations. Also the machining throughout building of the unit will go away residue. but that need to melt away off in a number of minutes to an hour or so, not weeks.
As far as remedy in the pipes. I do not know, hpw could you smell internal impurities inside of a closed hot h2o system.
Even glycol does not smell and thats all I can consider they additional.

Fog in the boiler room is your biggest concern! It could be that the vents that carry the appliances gasses out aren’t venting properly and the gasses are in the boiler room. This is carbon monoxide! The scratchy throat is an indication of that. So would be headaches. Have the carbon monoxide levels checked! And keep that window open!
